While I have numerous side projects by night, by day I am an engineer at Yahoo working on Y! Media properties. By night, I’m a coding ninja, working super secret stealth projects that really often never see the light of day. However, sometimes I do work on something that I think others might enjoy, at which point I usually publish it on Github and start tweeting about it.
Some of these side projects include:
- Tweenky – Yes, another Twitter project startin with a “tw”. It tends to be my pride & joy lately as it and GMail occupy my browser tabs the most lately. Check it out though, from my perspective it is the best way to experience Twitter. (Github repo)
- Tweetanium – Shortly after joining Yahoo, I wanted to wrap my head around YUI3, so I decided to rewrite Tweenky (jQuery) as a YUI3+YQL app. The most exciting part about it was using YQL’s storage & Twitter API capabilities to create a secure JavaScript-only OAuth app, something I thought was otherwise impossible. It’s still under heavy development. (Github repo)
- Tweet.FM – At MusicHackday San Francisco (May 2010), I decided to build, what in my mind, is the bridge between Last.FM & Twitter. I had always wanted to be able to comment on specific tracks I was listening to and have it pushed to Twitter. Almost like the FourSquare analogy of “Checking in”. I haven’t done much with it since then though.
- node-yql – I wanted to access YQL inside of a Node app I was working on, so I decided to create a module that anyone could use.
- … and there are lots more I’ll try to add later
